Hank did so well on our trip to and from Alabama. There was no way we could avoid flight times during a nap so we just did the best we could! He played and made everyone smile and then passed out.

This is how I was able to get him to go to sleep on the plane, bouncing him on my leg face down :)

caterpillars and unity

For Vivian's birthday present, we gave her a butterfly habitat and ordered the caterpillars to go with it.

The caterpillars are sent in the mail and come with all of the instructions for how to watch the process of becoming a butterfly.

Very cool idea and the girls have really enjoyed it so far! They check on the caterpillars every so often to see what they're doing.

They were babies at first, and we watched them eat and grow and move around in their cup.

Then on Sunday night we hosted a unity dinner at our house and it just so happened to be the time when we were supposed to move the caterpillars in their chrysalides (cocoons) to the habitat!

Perfect timing, because one of the guests was Stephanie, a chemistry professor at Roanoke College who does lab stuff all the time and was not squeamish about the job :)

I was glad to get rid of that cup because it was starting to look gross in there.

Go Stephanie! So glad you're doing this and not me! haha

trip to alabama

At the beginning of June, on the last day of preschool, the girls went off with Gramme and Papa for a camping trip (post to come soon!) and Hank and I flew to Alabama to visit Molly and her family!

Molly and I met on our study abroad trip to Spain and pretty much did everything together in Europe for those four months.

We have seen the grace of the Lord to keep us in contact and give us common seasons of life so that we can continue to relate to one another and encourage each other.

She and her husband, Nate, moved to Alabama several years ago and I hadn't been to visit yet!

Even more embarrassingly, though...I had never met her husband, Nate!

So the trip was much needed to catch up with her, and it was a sweet blessing to me to meet and spend time with her children.

My main man and I at the airport. He was such a dream for the traveling... and I can't begin to explain how much attention I got because of him...so cute and irresistible for strangers :)

This is Tim. He just turned two with his brother Mark yesterday. They are twins! They play so well together and are so well-mannered.

Hank had a good time exploring a new place and seeing new toys. We had a little bit of a hiccup with the time change...he was up every morning at around 5:30...eeek!

This is Mark on the left...really laid back little boy.

On the second afternoon, the boys played with water outside and were very entertained by it.

Meet Peter. He was about 3 and a half months old when I visited and is so precious. He very much goes with the flow and is a patient little guy.

Mark and Tim showed Hank how to work with tools on the tool bench.

They let H have a toy screwdriver to take home and he kept that thing in his hand for the entire trip...no lie, he did not let go of that beloved tool. Thanks, boys!

H was intrigued by Peter a few times during our stay.

Peter didn't like all the close attention :)

So big brother Tim came over to see how he could help protect his baby!

On Friday afternoon of that week I played with the big boys outside so that Molly could pack for a trip. They were so content in this wagon and rode around like this for at least 30 minutes.

Bedtime at night is always so busy! Look at this room full of babies! Molly is so great with them.

Peter was so sweet to just wait his turn for everything :)

Tim loves to wear fleece footed pajamas to bed every night, even in the summertime!

Molly was pumped to show me these awesome hand-me-down pajamas that both boys like to wear...she said that Nate commented that they look like something straight off The Cosby Show :)

I love this family and I love Molly's friendship!

Nate is the one taking this picture. He was on a work trip the week I was there but came home late the night before I left. He cooked breakfast for us that Saturday morning and I was able to meet him and get to talk with him a little before she took me to the airport.

It was a perfect time for me to visit, and I was thankful for the chance.

We mostly stayed at the house and took care of the little ones, and talked all day, every day with lots of continuous conversations.

Aaron laughed because he couldn't understand how we could spend that much time talking...the funny part was that after 3 days of nonstop time together, when she was dropping me off at the airport to go home, we were thinking of the things we didn't get a chance to talk about. Ha!

Father's Day Scripture for Aaron

We've had a special day so far with a baby dedication for our youngest, Hank, and lunch and swimming at Gramme and Papa's pool. Now we're off to a baseball game with the family, but here's the video we made (with a friend's help!) for Aaron to honor him until I can post pictures of the rest of our day!

I don't know if you've noticed from other posts, but Kate has become quite the camera queen. Every time I get the camera out or start to take a picture with my phone, she starts up her fancy pose and smile. This phase might not last so I am taking advantage of it and getting lots of sweet pictures of her :)

On Sunday afternoon we tried out some Roman candle fireworks that Uncle Joey shared with us.

Aunt Tasha was so sweet to do some french braids for the girls on Monday morning. Unfortunately since it's not something that they are used to, they weren't crazy about it and took the braids down almost immediately. I love it, though...I must learn how to do it!

Hank finally made it into a picture by the end of the weekend!

Very thankful for a restful weekend with each other.
