sierra's birthday dinner

On Friday night we met Joey, Sierra, Dad, and Mom at a Japanese Steakhouse to celebrate Sierra's 23rd birthday.

We all pitched in to get Sierra this motorcycle jacket that she wanted.

The waitresses came out to sing to Sierra but she was so embarrassed that she asked Joey to pretend it was his birthday instead. He went along with it...what a good husband :) It was hilarious though. They made him stand up and then asked him to "shake it like he's never shaken it before" and he did a little dance for everyone.

Fun night, great food! Happy Birthday, Sierra.

29 weeks belly

Baby is growing well. I had an appointment on Tuesday...heartrate was loud and strong at around 150 bpm and my weight gain is mostly on track. It was a quick belly check.
There are several things that are different about this pregnancy and it continues to amaze me. You'd think that everything would be the same, just like I'm expecting all my children to look just like Vivian :) This baby never gets the hiccups, whereas Vivian had them 3-4 times a day in the womb. This baby is crazy active, and Vivian was much more calm. This child is positioned in a way that kicks/movements can sometimes be uncomfortable for me, and I can't help but yell out...I never remember doing that with Vivian. Those are just a few things...God's work in creation and knitting this baby together is BOSS (aaron is blogging with me and this was his way of describing it).

We brought her toy box with us and several choice toys.

Then we went over to Mama Dot's for a big fried chicken dinner. Vivian just likes the veggies though.

Gramme, Aunt Judy, and handsome hubby

It was Mama Dot's birthday on Monday but we celebrated with her on Sunday evening. She cooked her own birthday dinner, but we did have a cake for her! Happy Birthday, Grandma.

Vivian learned a new trick...crawling up and down a step. She got the biggest kick out of it...squealing and bobbing her head in excitement. I was nervous, but after the first couple of times she was a pro.

Going back up to try it again! She did it over and over and over.

I felt so bad for her poor knees on this deck, but she didn't seem to mind at all.

On Monday morning we met Grandpa Hunter (Aaron's mom's dad) and Uncle David for breakfast (they live just over the bridge on the mainland). It was nice to see them again!

We're still here at Emerald Isle! Aaron arrived late last night and we've had an awesome day on the beach with him today.
Wish you were still here, Papa!

We visited Grandma's trailer often, especially in the mornings. Vivian enjoyed watching all the little dogs play.

There were a ton of people there on Saturday and Sunday since it was a holiday. The Emerald Isle Beach Patrol hired a DJ to play music both days...it was a nice treat, although some of the song choices weren't our favorite. It was fun to watch everyone do the Cupid Shuffle...somehow everyone knew what that was except us.

So glad Dad came to join us!

On Saturday afternoon we ran into cousin Lucas, Angela, and Hannah on the beach randomly! They also had friends with them and Vivian really liked playing with this girl, Macy.

first two days at the beach

yay!! we're headed to the beach!! Vivian has been sporting this sweet grin lately...we can't get enough.
We had a good ride down...6 hours is a long time but we stopped for lunch and bathroom breaks. Vivian did well with taking naps in the car. She had one screaming fit from being bored but thankfully we were getting ready to stop for lunch anyway.

I think a while ago I mentioned how she crosses her feet while in the car seat and high chair...here's proof :)

Yesterday we went to the beach for about an hour and she had a blast. She loved playing and crawling in the sand. There was another little girl there, about two years old, who played with Vivian. She loved watching the girl run around the beach and trying to crawl after her. We played right at where the water was coming up...it was COLD but she didn't seem to care much.

I was very paranoid about her sun exposure. She refused to keep her hat on :(

She played hard and slept hard! What a sweetie.

11 months old!

Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!

At 11 months, Vivian:

-has a new favorite toy: this pink ball!

-eats a lot. Of course this statement is relative because I'm not around other babies and don't know how much they normally eat, but to me she eats a lot at all three meals! She eats fast, too...stuffing her mouth as full as possible before she starts chewing.

-walks behind toys and all around furniture, but won't let go to stand on her own. She's still pretty unsure of her balance I guess.

-gets annoyed with me kissing her all day long

-has the same sleep and meal schedule as last month. She is a wonderful sleeper...I am so thankful. We have our days, but for the most part she's pretty predictable. This will be very helpful when the new baby comes.

-weighed right at 20 lbs. when I took her to the doctor two weeks ago.

-has independent playtime in her room each morning for about 30 minutes. She wanders all around the room, playing with all her toys. Sometimes I crack the door to peek at her playing so contently by herself :)

-Often has a serious, contemplative look on her face when she's looking at a new person or when she's trying to figure something out.

-Her favorite restaurant is K&W cafeteria :)

Vivian turned 11 months old today...I'll post on that tomorrow. In the meantime, here are some walking videos. We got her this new toy so that she could practice walking behind it...she loves it!

The second video is funny...at the end she says, "forget this! I'd rather crawl!"You can also see her cowlick well in the second one...her bed head cracks me up!

Sorry for the poor filming...I was trying to move backwards as she was coming towards me :)

Saturday was a busy day for us! Vivian had her last swim class at the Y and loved every second. Then we had some ladies come to the house for makeovers...thanks to Judie! She sells Mary Kay products and treated us to a very relaxing afternoon. I also learned about all the ways I do my skin care/makeup wrong :) From left to right: Amy, Tina, Judie, Amber, and Cole. Cole was so good to entertain himself for the whole two hours and not get into trouble! When Vivian woke up from her nap, they played together for a few minutes and he gave Vivian a sweet hug and kiss...it was so precious, but hilarious when Vivian turned her head and wouldn't have anything to do with the affection. Good girl!
Then we headed over to the Maggis for a cookout for our previous Sunday School class. They still invite us to their events because we only left so that Aaron could teach a class. There was so much food and so many babies! The Maggis have the perfect setup at their house for this kind of party. Thanks for having us!
