We love Papa!!
On Saturday night Papa and Gramme took us out to Panera Bread for dinner. Yum! Great company, too :)
We went to pick up Aaron from the airport yesterday (he was in Miami for meetings since Thursday). The girls were excited to see him, but they were also excited about riding the escalator up and down. Aaron obliged them a few times.
So, what about those fancy black shoes and earrings?
Aaron came home last Friday afternoon while I was still playing with V and K on the seesaw outside.
He asked me what I wanted to do that night. I told him I just wanted to hang out and relax and go to bed early. Oops!
His response: "Too bad. A babysitter will be here in 45 minutes. Shower, get dressed, and let's go!"
He planned an entire evening out on the town for us. He took me to a really nice restaurant in downtown Roanoke and then...
he took me to the opera! We saw Madama Butterfly. I had been to the opera when I was much younger and don't remember it, so it was like my first time. I was so impressed. The best part was that we were sitting in the very front row, in the very center! I could have touched the conductor's head from where I was sitting. It was spectacular. I was speechless at the talent.
We had to leave after Act 2 because we needed to relieve the sitter (thanks, Megan!), but we got a good taste of the artsy side of Roanoke.
It was a great night out. What does it have to do with those shoes, though?
Aaron had been shopping for me. He bought two dresses (to give me a choice, and I'll take back the one I didn't wear), shoes, and earrings. It was so thoughtful. He even called my friends to find out what size dress to get, and asked the only person in the world who would know my shoe size...my mom :) So he got everything right. When I came out from the bathroom to get dressed, he had everything laid out for me to put on.
Thank you, Aaron, for treating me. It was a very wonderful surprise and I loved going out with you!
What did Aaron do for me last weekend that was verrrryyyyyy loving?? I'll post a story tomorrow!
(I'm not trying to be cheesy with teaser post, but the truth is that I started it and then decided I am too tired to finish. Sorry!)
Thanks again to the Cannon family for these fun towels...I'm posting about them again because I realized that you all might like to see the cuties who use them, instead of them just hanging on the bathroom door :)
Kate is still trying to learn how to use utensils to feed herself. It didn't go that well tonight with the potato soup:

Cultivating patience while trying to teach table manners is one of the things I pray for a lot during the day in regards to my mothering.
But the soup was awesome and they both ate two bowls...thanks for the recipe, Erin!
She has learned the words to most of the songs from listening to them in the car. Hmmm makes me wonder if we are spending too much time in the car?? But if you don't have this CD, get it! It's great.
And how about that genuine enthusiasm she shows at the end?! haha

On Friday our window treatments were installed and I LOVE them! This evening when I finally got the camera out, the lighting wasn't great so I'd like to get some more pictures tomorrow to share.
And if I can't get the pictures to do it justice, then you'll just have to come over to see them sometime!
Today is Granddaddy's birthday and we've been thinking of him. I told Vivian about it this morning and she was pretty upset or confused when I explained that we wouldn't be eating cake with him and watching him open presents. "He's far away??!!" she said over and over again. :) She talked about it until we left for church.
This afternoon we made a birthday sign for you, Granddaddy. Vivian gave her sister some love while Kate was concentrating on her scribbling.
The photo shoot proved to be difficult. Vivian can't understand how to smile for the camera, and Kate wouldn't sit still or share the sign.
This is the best one we captured! Anyway, our thoughts are with you and we hope you had a great day! We'll call you tonight before bedtime!This morning Aaron took us to Chuck E. Cheese...ever since we went a few weeks ago, Vivian has not forgotten how fun it was and we all knew it would be even more fun with him! 
Kate walked right over to the Toddler section...she remembered exactly where she would have the most fun! I watched her in there while Aaron took Vivian around to all the games.
Aaron took a few minutes to be a kid.
Now that naps are over, we'll head outside in the warm sun to play lots more!
She's not even two yet but we've noticed she's already a gold digger.
What could possibly make these girls so giggly?!?!
Any guesses?
Only their daddy :) They lose it when he threatens to get their side meat, leg meat, neck meat (i.e. tickle them like crazy)...so exciting!
We played outside this afternoon because it was so warm!
