A Hawaiian Christmas 2004. This year we weren't exactly wearing bathing suits, and Santa Claus wasn't wearing a flowery t-shirt, but it was still pretty mild here in GA! We went to the church service yesterday morning, and then relaxed together for the rest of the day. We saw "Rumor Has It" with Kevin Costner at the movie theatre. We played with Aaron's new Quicken computer software, tried out the board game we got (Wit's End), and cooked lunch and dinner together. It was a great Christmas!
Going backwards...Friday night we camped out in the backyard. It was an experience to be had! Even though it was cold that night, we were warm in our sleeping bags with the 10 blankets over us. We didn't last until 3 a.m., though, because the ground was so uncomfortable compared to our pillowtop mattress.
Saturday we spent time around the house and at the mall. We had a nice lunch at Outback (thanks to Stephen and Michael!). Saturday night we went to the church for communion at the candelight service. It was beautiful. Afterwards, we stopped by a couple's house to hang out with Gary and Beth and some of that group. They served lots of sweets!
We hope everyone had a memorable Christmas. We'll post more about our gifts later. We also have to take a picture in our Christmas boxers/pajamas.
Today Aaron has the day off also, so we'll go looking for tables again.
After the party we went Christmas caroling. It was an adventure! The people we visited were really surprised but also blessed by our wonderful singing voices. It was pretty cold, though!

Last night our next-door neighbors invited us over for a Texas-themed Christmas party. There were about 5 families there. The kids played video games while the adults talked it up (and ate) in the kitchen and living room. 
Derwin did a great job on the meat. It was a new thing for me and Aaron...brisket. Kind of a Texas-style bbq I think. It was tasty and I think we are having leftovers for lunch today.
On the left corner of the table you can see that I attempted the donut Christmas tree again, except this time with white powered donuts.
Rex and Donna Wilson came over last night to have dinner with us. We know them from First Baptist. When we came in April, I showed up at a women's Bible study and Donna was especially friendly to me. She was probably my first friend here! We had pot roast and mashed potatoes. Some of my students dropped off a variety of cheesecakes earlier this week, so we had lots of dessert! It was a great night.
We were sorry to miss the neigborhood party in Salem. Hope it went well!
Aaron taunted some young boys at the pool about ping-pong. It was all in fun, but those boys did lose. 
We were laying out beside the resort pool and it was around 80 degrees :)
We went on a "sunset sail" to watch for whales. It was a fun evening activity, and we did see some whales. 
After the cruise we stopped by a megahotel to see their Christmas lights.

We were touring the island of Maui. We also went to a luau that night.
What a fun way to get around! Be careful, the roads are narrow and curvy.

We were on our honeymoon! I don't think we ever shared any honeymoon pictures, so here they are!
Aww...our first Christmas tree. Mom sent a tree and ornaments so that we could feel a little Christmas spirit, even if we were in Hawaii. 
It was the nicest place that either of us had ever stayed in...thanks to Mike and Peggy! This isn't even the half of it...there is another side with a kitchen and living room area. This is the view from the bedroom into the bathroom, and
We became Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Fernandez. Thanks to everyone for your support and prayers over the past year. We have enjoyed a blissful (most of the time!) first year. 
Aaron is a thoughtful husband! He gave me china. 12 place settings...it's gorgeous. This week we'll look for a nice table to put it on!
Pictures don't do it justice. It's fancy! Very simple and classy...just the way we like it.
Aaron's gift from me. Love Letters to him, and
Love Letters from him. They are scrapbooks with the collection of letters between us arranged so they can be easily read. I also got him a puzzle that we can put together together. It's fun being in love!
We had to get ice cream after dinner. This is where we had dessert on our first date (except that time we were in Cary). Double Dark Chocolate with cookie dough and extra chocolate chips on a chocolate dipped waffle cone...MmMmM. We walked around the mall for a little while and saw a professor that we both had at State, so we stopped to talk with him. Alright, group!
We went out to eat at the Olive Garden (our favorite that we miss a lot!), and then went to Triangle Town Center for the ice cream. This elaborate tree was a perfect picture stop. It was a special date!
We followed the tradition of eating the top layer of the wedding cake. Actually, we only took a couple of bites. It was a beautiful cake!
We are a happy anniversary couple!
Our tree was abounding with gifts and now it's empty! We hope you like what we gave...we gave everything with love.
We were blessed to get this Christ-centered nativity scene from Granddaddy and Grandma Carolyn. We put our hutch right-side-up so that we could display it well. It's very impressive.
Mom made this blanket for our guest bedroom. It adds a lot of color and it's so warm! Thank you mom for the time you put into that gift...we love it.We also got gifts cards to Dillard's, JCPenny, Outback, Wal-Mart, and Haverty's. We got a laptop case, an incredibly soft blanket, a Reformation ESV Study Bible, a saw, and a board game. We're thankful also for the monetary gifts! We have such a generous family.
Peepaw, thanks for letting us stay in your home over the weekend!
As always, the table where we broke bread was beautifully decorated. At each place was a handmade angel or an electronic gadget (women and men, respectively). The meal was extravagant!
Grandma Carolyn outdid herself for this lunch. She is a great hostess. It was good to see you again! 
No Elvis this time, but mom did entertain us with her Christmas carol-playing skills. 
This is our group. We were glad to have everyone there...only missing an awesome uncle that we think about daily!
