Happy 31st birthday, Joey!
Is it time for a baby boy update? I've had two ultrasounds that I haven't shared, and even though I know there are only a few people who are interested in these kinds of pictures, I'm posting them anyway for the record. Everything looks very healthy!

| This was taken at the ultrasound last Friday, at 23 weeks. He weighed about 1 pound, 7 ounces and measures in the 58th percentile overall. I don't know if you can tell, but he kept his arms and hands in front of his face the whole time, so we couldn't get a good picture! Here you can just see his ear, hand in front of his eyes, and chin at the bottom. But still so sweet to a mommy :) |
Here is a belly shot taken yesterday at 24 weeks. I feel great...still have some back pain some days, but love this experience! He is very active and I enjoy the movement immensely.

On Friday afternoon we hopped in the car and headed for Richmond to visit my brothers Stephen and Michael for the weekend. They were very gracious to host us (Michael gave up his room and Stephen gave up precious law school finals study time to hang out with us!). On Friday evening we got there in time to walk down the block to an italian restaurant for dinner. They live in a really cool part of Richmond where the houses are all from the 1910s and lined up beautifully along the street, with restaurants on the corners, so it's an awesome place to take a walk to dinner. On Saturday morning we got up and drove almost an hour to Williamsburg to spend the day at Busch Gardens! :)
V and K were excited about the day, especially V because she understood a little more about what we were doing. Can you see she was thrilled about just taking the tram from the parking lot to the entrance?! haha
We spent most of the day here at the Sesame Street Forest of Fun. This was the first ride they did. Vivian was intrigued and seemed like she enjoyed it...Kate...not so much.
But as soon as she got off the ride I took her for a bathroom break and she was talking nonstop with an excited voice...she was pumped about doing something different. And she insisted on getting in line for the next ride.
She stood in line the whole time with a huge grin...they just watched and watched and waited so patiently like this, but as soon as it was their turn to actually get on the ride, she started crying :(
So she stood with me and Uncle Stephen while we watched V ride!
Then the guys took a few minutes to go ride a real roller coaster while I sat and watched them run around in a little play area. They were so content.
More rides! After this one, they met Elmo, Grover, and Big Bird and then Vivian went with Aaron to ride her first roller coaster (still in the Sesame Street area...it was for kids but it looked a little intense!), and she loved it. We cheered for her and when she came out, Kate acted like she was so proud of her sister...very sweet.
We walked around the park a little to find some good lunch.
And then the guys went for another roller coaster while I sat and watched them play in the water area...for almost 2 hours! They loved it and couldn't get enough! It was so much fun for me, too...I love watching them enjoy themselves.
Two times their water play was interrupted for the Elmo and friends show...of course they didn't mind. :)

Thanks for going with us, Stephen and Michael! It's different with kids, for sure...taking turns pushing the stroller, watching them wait in line for rides, bathroom breaks, etc. So thanks for sacrificing a little to see them have fun and for helping out so much!
Proof that I was there, too. The girls were at a good age for it and it was a low-key day, and I think next year will be even better! We figure as long as my brothers are in Richmond we can keep going each year and make some great memories.
On our way back to their apartment, Kate fell asleep of course, and when we got there we just transferred her straight to bed, not even with pajamas :) She slept from 6 pm to 7:30 the next morning. V went to bed right away, too. The grown-ups ordered some fancy Chinese food and watched movies.
On Sunday we took our time getting up and then went for a quick breakfast at a local place, and drove home. Everything went so smoothly and we were very thankful!
A LONG time ago I alluded to these pictures...sorry it has taken me so long to post them! Back in November, Erin and I took Vivian, Julia, and Mason (Kate was in preschool) to Lynchburg to the Amazement Square children's museum. I was so impressed with it and thankful for the chance to visit! The kids really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to when Aaron and I can take both girls back.

A couple of weeks ago the preschool hosted Donuts for Dads and Aaron went with both girls on the same morning. Vivian's teachers had prepared a short interview to give him, where she answered questions about her dad.
The 3rd sentence starter was, "My dad's favorite food is _____." V answered "crab."

She ate as many as he did. We've been to this restaurant several times and they've begun this tradition of sharing a huge plate of crab legs. She loves it.
She loves to dip her food (butter, ketchup, mustard, caramel sauce, ranch, syrup, you name it, she will use it for dipping anything)!
A few of the other notable questions from the interview (the words in italics are hers):
My dad's job is working with batteries.
My favorite thing to do with my dad is playing with him all day (she's talking about Saturdays).
My dad's favorite TV show is Rudy (she means The Cosby Show).
Last Tuesday we were invited to a new friend's home for a special girls only tea party. It was such a treat for all of us! Lauren is a wonderful hostess and I enjoyed getting to know her better. She and I met several months ago at the music class I take the girls to each Tuesday. There is also a long-time friend of mine in that class with her 3 kiddos, Allyson, and she brought her little girl to the tea party, too. It was a cute idea for these small girls!

Lauren had set aside some dress up clothes for them to put on before we started.
We had fruit, muffins, quiche, cucumber sandwiches, and more...it was a great lunch for me, too :)
The girls used a play tea set. They were served hot chocolate instead of tea and it was a hit. Charlotte and Kate were the biggest fans and had numerous cupfuls of it. The best part for all of them was stirring in the cream and sugar with their tiny spoons.
Kate was the messiest guest by far. But she had a blast participating, and it was cute.
Sweet Charlotte...she kept asking for more and more!
After lunch, Lauren served them ice cream in these precious bowls. Couldn't have been more perfect for the occasion.
I love having little dates like these with my girls!
